Summary: Holding her stuffed toy chimpanzee, young Jane Goodall observes nature, reads Tarzan books, and dreams of living in Africa and helping animals.
I love the naturalist jounal feel of this one! Each page captures Jane's sense of wonder. I am also crazy about The Bear Who Shared right now. Rayner's artwork is delicious.
I've seen The Bear Who Shared by Catherine Rayner! As soon as I read it, I wanted to post it to our reading list -- it is lovely and so original! I'd love to post it on our list, but because Ms. Rayner is not a US resident (she lives in Edinburgh, Scotland), her book doesn't fit the Caldecott criteria we try to follow.
Loved everything about this gentle sweet story. Can't wait to share it with students.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you, kayakgirl. I was really touched by this book; it's so simple and beautiful, and will appeal to all ages.
