Summary: A young schoolboy from the early 20th century hides a candy box with secret instructions under the floorboards of his boarding school for future generations of schoolchildren to find and follow to a mysterious hiding place.

  1. Such a fun story. It draws you in and I love the neverending feel of it. The illustrations are deceptively simple.

  3. Yes, the illustrations appear to be simple but then as you look at them all kinds of details are revealed. To me the illustrations are sharing history in a beautiful simple way. And, telling the story of how each of us can share history with the next generation. The two page spreads are done well. The wide white borders work well with the story. Definitely don't need words in this book. Oh yes, the end pages are great too.
