Many thanks to Heather for recommending this title to be added to our online discussion. I whole-heartedly agree that the illustrations are absolutely stunning!
However, with regard to consideration for the Mock Caldecott Award, this title appears to be ineligible. The Terms for the Caldecott Medal state:
The award is restricted to artists who are citizens or residents of the United States.
Vicky White, from what I can gather, lives in England, which does make her ineligible to win the Caldecott Medal.
However, this does not take away from the beauty and engaging qualities of this book! I encourage everyone to locate a copy and see it for themselves!

Just read it, and the illustrations are fantastic. Too bad it isn't eligible for the Caldecott, since it would be one of my favorites so far.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great book, Edwird. The design is unique, it's so informative and appealing to all ages. I hope it gets recognized in some way.
