2011 Caldecott Medal Winner and Honor Books

Yesterday, the winner of the 2011 Caldecott Medal was announced at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Diego.


A Sick Day for Amos McGee
illustrated by Erin Stead
written by Philip Stead

is the very worthy recipient of this year's Caldecott Medal.





Two honor books were also named. They are...

Dave the Potter: Artist, Poet, Slave
illustrated by Bryan Collier
written by Laban Carrick Hill







and

Interrupting Chicken
illustrated and written by David Ezra Stein

  2. No problem with the three winners, but the committee needs to give out more honor books. They are far too stingy with the honor citations. At least three books were unfairly passed over for the silver the way I see it:

    Chalk
    Flora's Windy Day
    Art & Max
