Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Rosenthal

Illustrated by Tom Lichlenheld

Abstract: From the award-winning author of Little Pea, Little Hoot, and Little Oink comes a clever take on the age-old optical illusion: Is it a duck or a rabbit? Depends on how you look at it! Readers will find more than just Amy Krouse Rosenthal's signature humor here, there's also a subtle lesson for kids who don't know when to let go of an argument. A smart, simple story that will make readers of all ages eager to take a side, Duck! Rabbit! makes it easy to agree on one thing, reading it again!

  1. Our Summer Reading Club Theme features Creativity and Art. Our staff took this book on our various school visits to promote summer reading and children of all ages loved it. Sometimes what we see depends on how we look at it. Great fun!

  2. What a great use for this book! I really like its versatility, in that it has appeal for all ages. The illustrations appear simple, but it takes talent to create apparently simple images that tell a story quite this well.

  3. I used this book for all my SRP school visits this year. It was a HUGE success! All of the kids really enjoyed it, especially the 4th and 5th graders!

  4. I like the way the pictures are so simple that the imagination has room to fill in the rest. Even the backgrounds of each picture are minimal. I also like the fact that the people talking and debating are not pictured. Your eyes simply focus on the shape of the rabbit/duck as you follow their discussion.
