Besides this being just a very sweet picture book I think the illustrations are extra special. The white spaces are used wisely. The illustrations carry the message of the story well. The illustration appear to me to be done in water color using a lot of pastels. I think this title is definitely worth taking a look at.
This is a wonderful bedtime story -- and I especially love the sloths!
I was prepared to be delighted by this one, as the cover art is truly lovely - but I was disappointed. I didn't think Walker did as well with the illustrations throughout the book as the cover art promises. It bothered me that sometimes his illustrations are just subject with white space surround, and sometimes a square with white frame and sometimes the illustrations fill the entire page. I found that some of the rhymes in the book are forced, and though this is no reflection on the illustrations, it detracted from the book overall.
Jamie at TUFW: I found this book to be delightful. The chalk-like or pastel-like drawings add a sweet attribute to the pictures.I really appreciated how Ann incorporated both moms and dads to kiss their babies goodnight.
